UDIMORE is a parish, in the Eastern division of the county, hundred of Gostrow, Rye union and county court district, rape of Hastings, diocese of Chichester, and archdeaconry of Lewes, 3½ miles west-north-west from Winchelsea. The church of St. Mary is principally in the Early English style. The register dates from the year 1558. The living is a discharged vicarage, value 100 per annum, endowed with 400 private benefactions, 860 Royal Bounty, and 200 Parliamentary grant, in the gift of Frederick Langford, Esq., and held by the Rev. William Brocklebank, M.A., of Queen's College, Cambridge. The parish is bounded on the south by Brede channel. The area is 2,221 acres, assessed at 3,881; the population in 1861 was 444.
