Brief description of eventsThe motor car in which the victims were travelling was proceeding along the road at some speed. The driver failed to notice that the level crossing gates were closed until it was too late to stop and crashed into the level crossing gates at the moment when a passenger train was passing. The car was completely wrecked, the chassis being hurled some 25 yards and finally landing in the ditch by the side of the line.
